Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Week One
In
our first week of working on ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ we started to
look over our scripts. We then focused on the first scene in the play, which
tells the story of ‘Willie Wonka’ and his life up to the point where the play
begins. We decided that the best way to portray this would be to make it a shadowy
dream like sequence. As well as playing ‘Mr Salt’ I was to play one of the
rival chocolatiers in competition with ‘Willie Wonka’ and stealing his ideas.
This scene was fun to work on. Whilst there wasn’t any lines it did allow for a
greater amount of stage time. We continued this week to look at the other
opening scenes, where the different children receive their golden tickets and
are waiting for ‘Willie Wonka’ outside of his factory. For our first few run
throughs of these scenes we were just practicing our marks, how we would stand and
our movements. I believe we were off to a great way to start off the show.
